We all need time for ourselves. Some people might say that is being selfish, but that is the truth. Without practicing self-care daily, we may neglect ourselves. This may lead to many things to do with mental health issues. Even though this may not happen to everyone, it is still very important. If you start to feel like you have no time for yourself everyday and you’re being overwhelmed. This is for you! These self-care tips will help you remember that you are one of the most important people in your life! Don’t ever forget that! This is the 2nd post in my self-development series.
Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep, as you already know, is very important. It is plays a massive role in how your day will go. When you get more sleep you typically have a better mood thoughtout the day; you think clearer; you have a lower risk of injury because your more focused and you have a better memory. So even if you have a lot of work to finish, remember that you should get some sleep. It might even make the quality of your work better.
Start off the day with meditation
When you wake up in the morning you may feel like you are not in a good place. What I am trying to describe is different for everyone but you may feel a little puzzled. This is where meditation comes in. When you meditate you feel more concentrated; you are less bothered by little things; it reduces your stress levels and anxiety; and it enables us to have a deeper understanding of our inner self. If you start your day with meditation, it makes sure you have some time for yourself even when you are busy.
Plan and prioritize your life
This is something you should at least once a week. A lot of people take time on Sunday to just organise what they are going to do in the upcoming week. This enables you to make sure you do everything you need to do without the stress. By doing this it might let you make time for the important things like family and friends. This is where you need to prioritize you life. Even though there are some things like your job that you need to do, it is important that you still make time for people. This includes family, friends and maybe even new people you want to welcome into your life. This is very important.
Make time for yourself
You are no.1 in your life. Sometimes we forget how much we neglect ourselves. In this world where surviving is our main priority it makes sense. So I am going to tell you right now that you should always think off yourself first. If that means being selfish then so be it. We need to make sure that we should love ourselves too.
This is something you always hear, but it is honestly worth it. And I’m not talking about losing weight. Eating healthier has some amazing benefits it makes you happier; it makes you smarter; you get better sleep; and it helps with stress. There are so many more benefits that I am not able to list down. Write things down
Writing things helps you to organise you emotions when you are not able to talk to anyone about it. This can really help when you are felling really angry or sad.
Find a new passion
Having a hobby to look forward to can help you when your just feeling tired. At the moment my passion is to learn languages and right now I am learning Korean. It has honestly helped me in a lot of aspects in my life. Having a hobby is amazing and it is something that you can make special for yourself. No one can take that away from you.
Laugh and have fun
Don’t be serious all the time. You only live life once. I laugh everyday and if I don’t that means something is very weird or wrong. Learn to have fun once in a while and take risks sometimes. When you look back in the future. you will regret not creating memories that make you laugh. This leads me to my next point.
Call a friend
Call a friend everyday. Even if it is for 5 minutes, talking to a friend can put you in an amazing mood. Never forget the people around you and how much you love them. It doesn’t take that much to pick up the phone to tell them that.
Set new goals for tomorrow
Personal goals are amazing things to have. They help you grow as a person and strive for new things. Setting goals make you hopefully wish for good things for the future. Many people don’t have goals and that makes me so sad that people aren’t able to work towards something they want. However I feel like many people struggle to stick to their goals once they st them.
