5 Amazing DIY Face Masks for Acne That Really Work

I love face masks and use them all the time. However, sometimes I just can not trust what goes in them – especially since I have sensitive skin. From time to time, I make my own masks which can sometimes be way more beneficial than a store-bought mask. So, I am sharing with you 5 DIY face masks for acne.

DIY Face Masks for Acne:

  • Avocado & Vitamin E

Avacado– Has many antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents including, potassium, folic acid, biotin, calcium, and vitamins B5, B6, C, K, E, this help to keep your skin strong, smooth and elastic.

Vitamin E (Click here to buy)– Is an antioxidant that it is great for treating and preventing stubborn acne-prone skin. It also can help to reduce the appearance of scars.

What you will need:

  • Avocado
  • Vitamin E oil

Recipe:

  1. Remove the pit and skin from half of an avocado.
  2. Mash the avocado in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add 2 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Wash your face and neck with warm water
  6. Apply the mask and let it dry for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Remove the mask with lukewarm water first, then rinse your face with cool water to close your pores.
  8. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

  • Honey & Aloe Vera

This mask is actually my favorite diy face mask for acne.

Honey– Has anti-bacterial properties which means that when honey is used on the skin it acts as an acne preventer.

Aloe Vera – Is very effective for treating acne and reducing the redness that comes with it. It also aids with skin regeneration which helps to reduce acne scars.

What you will need:

  • Honey
  • Aloe Vera (Click here to buy)
  • Shea Butter (Click here to buy)

Recipe:

  1. Add 3 tablespoons of shea butter into a blender.
  2. Add 2 tablespoon of Aloe vera and organic honey
  3. Wash your face and neck with warm water
  4. Remove the mixture from the blender and apply evenly.
  5. Let the mixture dry for 10-20 minutes.
  6. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then rinse your face with cool water to close your pores.
  7. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

  • Aztec Healing Clay

Aztec healing clay is an amazing homemade face mask for acne. It helps control the overproduction of sebum and draw toxins out of your skin, therefore, helping to reduce acne.

What you will need:

  • Aztec healing clay (Click here to buy)
  • Aloe vera gel/juice (Click here to buy)
  • Olive oil
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (Click here to buy)

Recipe:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of Aztec healing clay using a plastic spoon and plastic bowl
  2. Then add 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel/juice and olive oil
  3. Add apple cider vinegar until the desired consistency is reached
  4. Mix well
  5. Wash your face and neck with warm water and then apply the mask
  6. Let the mixture dry for 10-20 minutes.
  7. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then rinse your face with cool water to close your pores.
  8. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

  • Baking Soda & Lemon Juice

Baking Soda– Helps to keep the pH of the skin balance which is an important factor in treating acne

Lemon Juice– reduces oil (sebum) due to the drying effects of citric acid; antiseptic qualities, which may kill bacteria that lead to acne, such as P. acnes; reduces redness and inflammation that may help treat inflammatory acne as well as leftover scars

What you will need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Lemon Juice

Recipe:

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a bowl.
  2. Stir until the ingredients form a smooth paste.
  3. If necessary, add more baking soda one pinch at a time until the paste becomes thick and smooth.
  4. Wash your face and neck with warm water
  5. Apply the lemon juice and baking soda mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  6. Gently massage your skin with small, circular motions for 2 minutes.
  7. Rinse your face with warm water to remove the mask, then rinse a second time with cool water to close your pores.
  8. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

  • Activated Charcoal and Tea tree essential oil

Activated Charcoal – Draws out toxins from the skin by attracting gunk of our pores on the skin’s surface by deeply cleansing it. It also controls sebaceous gland which promotes healthy, glowing skin.

Tea tree essential oil – has antibacterial and anti-viral properties that kill bacteria and virus causing acne, blackheads, and whiteheads.

What you will need:

  • Activated Charcoal (Click here to buy)
  • Tea tree essential oil (Click here to buy)
  • Aloe Vera Gel/Juice(Click here to buy)

Recipe:

  1. Add 2 tablespoon of Aztec healing clay using a plastic spoon and plastic bowl
  2. Then add 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel/juice
  3. Add 3 drops of tea tree essential oil
  4. Mix well
  5. Wash your face and neck with warm water and then apply the mask
  6. Let the mixture dry for 10-20 minutes.
  7. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then rinse your face with cool water to close your pores.
  8. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
